2nd WORKSHOP
EUROPEAN COMMISSION
ELECTRICITY UTILITIES AND TELECOM COMPANIES

Following the successful meeting in May 2011 in Brussels, the European Commission organised a second workshop on Smart Grids for representatives from electricity utilities, telecom companies and energy solution providers . It was hosted by Unit H4 of DG INFSO and held on Wednesday 5 October 2011 in Brussels.
The aims of the workshop were to:
• help shape policy on "smart grids deployment"
• discuss favourable business, regulatory, and technological issues
• discuss the topics of the EU proposal for a Connecting Europe Facility.
Nineteen representatives from the private sector and industry trade associations participated together with officials from DG INFSO.
The morning and afternoon sessions comprised a series of short presentations and
papers from several participants, followed by discussions. The presentations and
papers will be made available online.
