SafeBorders

Establish a cohesive European network to promote and support awareness aimed at the protection of children and teenagers using the Internet.

Background

SafeBorders is to establish a cohesive European network to promote and support awareness aimed at the protection of children and teenagers using the Internet. In its current phase, SafeBorders targets directly five partner countries, namely Germany, Greece, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom. Work in these countries will be carried out through the enhancement of existing, mostly informal sub-networks. Concertation with other organisations with which this project shares aims and tasks (e.g. other IAP-funded projects) will be actively promoted through the organisation of and participation in international events to promote discussion, exchange and co-operation. Beyond the direct target countries, SafeBorders has already received expression of support from organisations from the USA, the Czech Republic, Bulgaria and Romania. Furthermore, through the Greek consortium, Cyprus is covered in all aspects of the planned awareness work.

Benefits

The main expected results of SafeBorders include

Co-operation through national (sub)networks, which will allow increased visibility and wider coverage of targeted and widely spread awareness messages.
