The Safer Internet programme has run in parallel with the development of other EU initiatives aimed at bringing together stakeholders to exchange information and practice and take positive action for children and young people.

The communication on the protection of consumers, in particular minors, in respect of the use of video games. This is one of the initiatives addressing the potential risks minors may face when playing video games, because of their potential psychological effects. See factsheet

The media literacy initiative aims to increase awareness of the many forms of media messages encountered in their everyday lives. It should help citizens to recognize how the media filter their perceptions and beliefs, shape popular culture and influence personal choices.
The European Forum on the Rights of the Child is a permanent group for the promotion of children’s rights, in internal and external action. The role of the Forum is to advise and assist the Commission and other European Institutions, in particular as regards mainstreaming of children's rights, and exchange information and good practice. The Forum aims to be a place allowing for children’s opinions to be heard and taken into account.
The Daphne III initiative aims to contribute to the protection of children, young people and women against all forms of violence.
The European Financial Coalition (EFC) was set up to fight child abuse sexual abuse content on the Internet.
