Safer Internet Day 2008:
European Youth Forum

Safer Internet Day is part of a global drive to promote a safer Internet for all users, especially young people. In 2008, the European Commission focuses particularly on the experiences and involvement of young people.

In celebration of Safer Internet Day 2008, the European Commission organised on 12 February 2008 a Youth Forum on Safer Internet in Brussels where youth (14-17 year olds) from Austria, Czech Republic, Cyprus, Finland, Germany, Iceland, Netherlands, Sweden and UK discussed issues related to their use of online technologies.

The close to 30 youth met Meglena Kuneva, Commissioner for Consumer Protection, industry and politicians and gave their views on what they think should be done to make use of online technologies safer, in particular on:

Safer Internet Day is organised under the patronage of Commissioner for Information Society and Media, Viviane Reding.
