The European Commission and the FIArch Group cordially invites you to the 1st
Future Internet Architecture (FIArch) open workshop.
The Experts Reference Group (ERF) of the FIArch group is composed of
representatives of the most relevant FP7 research projects in relation to FI
architectures and renowned experts from industry and academia covering in a
complementary way all areas related to the Future Internet Architecture. The
work of the group is coordinated by the FP7 CSA projects in the area of Future
Internet: NextMedia, IOT-i, SOFI, EFFECTS+, EIFFEL, SESERV, Chorus+ and Paradiso
2, and supported by the EC Units D1: Future Networks, D2: Networked Media
Systems, D3: Software & Service Architectures & Infrastructures, D4: Networked
Enterprise & Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), F4: New Infrastructure
Paradigms and Experimental Facilities and F5: Trust and Security.
The aim of FIArch group is to focus on a few yet key architectural issues, which
are shared and agreed by a considerable representation and coverage of FI
stakeholders, including FP7 projects, and will contribute towards an EC research
roadmap towards Future Internet Architecture.
As a first concrete step towards this goal, the FIArch group has been working on
the identification and categorization of the “Fundamental Limitations of Current
Internet”. In this open workshop, the FIArch group would like to present the
current progress and receive a first feedback from the EC research and industry
community in general.
It is worth to notice that the presentations by the group will be focused on a
small set of limitations identified as fundamental. Yet, a large slot has been
allocated in the workshop’s schedule for interested audience participants, who
are invited to present in a qualitatively and quantitatively justified way
additional limitations they consider as fundamental. For a better organization
of this session, a pre-registration process will be announced in the next few
days.
