OPTIPARK FACES MARKET

After a succesful final review, consortium has learnt from the market validation process and paves the way for the commercial exploitation of the smart e-parking platform.
After having validated the service in six different cities in Europe, it is now time for the OPTIPARK Consortium to face the real world and exploit the platform commercially from the experience gained.
OPTIPARK’s main goal is to enhance urban mobility and to optimise parking space by launching an innovative implementation of electronic parking services, trying to increase effective available capability and upgrading quality services to other business activities (i.e. hotels, theatres or cinemas) by offering and managing a whole parking service network. In other words, OPTIPARK works as a Parking Brokerage Service or as an intermediary; an interactive electronic market place matching parking space demand with existing parking space resources, thereby improving and controlling public and private parking space.
OPTIPARK has prepared the market introduction of its service by assessing and validating the feasibility of its trans-European deployment through Market Validation pilots in several European cities of varied size, namely Amsterdam, Bruges, Madrid, Bologna, Baden and Vilnius.
This trans-European approach has incorporated, validated and adjusted the different urban patterns, needs and habits into the validation experiences ensuring the necessary background for a subsequent initial deployment throughout Europe.
Beyond the project phase OPTIPARK will address the establishment of a commercial entity directed towards the deployment and selling of the different services validated during the 21-month project. The partners committed themselves for the six following months to explore the initial commercial actions.
OPTIPARK, an eTEN Market Validation project, was born from the previously EU co-funded project, e-PARKING IST-25392, which successfully developed, integrated and tested in a real life environment such an interoperable and secure e/m-commerce platform for parking place reservation.
OPTIPARK Consortium is coordinated by SICE (Spain) and is also compound by the following project partners: ECORYS, ERF, ALLMOBILE, UZH, INTERPARKING, COMMUNITY OF BOLOGNA, EP BADEN, POLIS, PARK-LINE, PARKEER GEBOUWEN AMSTERDAM, MESP VILNIUS and MUNICIPALITY OF MADRID.
