| As a part of the Czech EU presidency, the Czech Ministry of Interior will organize a high-level conference on electronic identity and public registers in Hradec Králové on 7 April 2009. The conference will be based on invitation only. The "eID and Public register" conference will be arranged in relation to the 12th annual ISSS conference (Internet in Public Administration/Local and Regional Information Society). | ||

MEDeTEL, the International eHealth, Telemedicine and Health ICT forum is taking place on 1-3 April 2009 in Luxembourg. More at: www.medetel.lu The NETC@RDS Mid-Term workshop will be organised in the frame of MEDeTEL (scheduled for 2 April, 14:00 – 17:30), presenting the project achievements reached so far and generating a wide discussion on policy and legal related aspects, potential market dimension and commercial features of the service as well as the effectiveness of the proposed ICT solution in view of the interoperability of the eEHIC as forthcoming challenge for borderless care in Europe. The first European eParticipation Day organised by the European Commission was held on 4 March 2009. It aimed to highlight how Information and Communication Technologies are transforming the political landscape and to enhance and boost eParticipation - the use of ICTs to give ordinary people more of a say in the decisions that affect them. Participants were also able to visit an exhibition of 21 eParticipation projects that have been funded under programmes run by DG Information Society and Media to learn more about their activities and achievements. Participants came from the European Parliament, the European Commission, national parliaments, regional and local authorities, universities, NGOs (including youth organisations) and the private sector. |

eChallenges e-2009 Conference & Exhibition takes place in Istanbul, Turkey in late October 2009. The organisers are now inviting extended abstracts (1,200 - 1,500 words) for technical papers, visionary papers, business and government case studies. Proposals to arrange workshop sessions are also welcome. Related themes and suggestions for papers and sessions are outlined in the Call for Papers www.echallenges.org/e2009/default.asp?page=c4p . eChallenges e-2009 will focus on Applied ICT research topics addressing major societal and economic challenges. |
