EurTradeNet at the IST conference
The EurTradeNet (ETN) eTEN project offers services that will provide a mean for traders to submit electronic declarations to local or foreign country customs administrations, providing for integrated management of trade procedures in the EU.
The project was represented at the IST conference in Helsinki (21-23 November) at a joint stand with the IST project ITAiDe and partners of ITAiDe such as SAP and IBM. Together with the ITAiDe IST project ETN organised a workshop on "ICT challenges in cross-broder trade" at the IST conference. The workshop focused on the public sector and included researchers as well as external advisors from different European customs authorities. Also key players from the industry, e.g. SAP & SUN representatives, attended the workshop.
The issues of the discussion were:
- interoperability
- secure supply chain management as driver for eGovernment
- the political dimension
- how to shape public-private partnerships
- how to reach out to SMEs and new EU Member States.
The conference was an opportunity for EurTradeNet to deliver their message and to meet interesting professionals and other stakeholders willing to cooperate.
