NETC@RDS HAS SUCCESFULLY RUN PILOT DURING THE OLYMPIC GAMES
Since 1st August 2004 all the 14 NETC@RDS pilots that run in hospitals in Athens and Thessaloniki are well equipped with computers connected to a SCM smart card reader and customized for software applications prepared by partners of the NETC@RDS consortium. These equipments afford civil servants and operators at pilot hospitals to register patient admittance and initiate the billing/clearing procedure with data they can collect from health insurance cards issued in Austria, France and Germany as well as with the data keyed in from the eye-readable European Health Insurance Card.
During the Olympic Games, access to health care service in pilot hospitals was simplified thanks to the NETC@RDS process. After the successful first period, the Greek Ministry of Health decided to keep the pilots in all 14 hospitals running during the Para-Olympics Games that will take place 17th-28th September.
A set-up of pilots in the other 9 Member-States participating in the project will be the next step. More information about the Netcards project:
