ACTIVITIES :: eTen

What is eTEN?

The eTEN European Community programme finished at the end of 2006 as the funding cycles of the programme were completed. Following a midterm evaluation in 2005, the final evaluation of the eTEN Programme has been published, covering the period from 2002 until programme end in December 2006. More

eTEN was supporting the deployment of trans-European e-services in the public interest. The programme aimed to accelerate the take-up of services to sustain the European social model of an inclusive, cohesive society. eTEN’s six themes included eGovernment, eHealth, eInclusion, eLearning, Services for SMEs and Trust & Security. More eTEN documentation in our Library

As projects will continue through 2009 and some through 2010, this website will be regularly updated for the time being in order to provide support for the ongoing projects funded under the former eTEN programme.

eServices Europa portal and project support

A selected number of eTEN projects are receiving direct support from the eServices Europa service contract, to provide them with the necessary knowledge to further exploit their potential and results. The first training course, which took place in September in Brussels, presented the participants with various public and private funding opportunities. It also gave an insight on how to deal with intellectual property rights, whilst providing some useful strategies and tips for marketing and communication activities, as well as highlighting guidelines for preparing and implementing a business plan. The training kit of the course can be found on the eServices Europa website.

As a next step, these selected projects had the opportunity to interact with interested parties to investigate potential business opportunities and cooperation possibilities at the ICT 2008 Conference in Lyon, France.  For this purpose, a session entitled “Deployment and take-up of ICT in CIP related activities” took place on 27 November 2008 in Lyon, addressing national and regional authorities, investors (venture capitalists and business angels), potential partners and other stakeholders, who have an interest in the deployment of eServices. More

The same service contract also provides support to the network of National Contact Points for the ICT Policy Support Programme. The eServices Europa website also includes a separate section reserved for the NCPs network.

Complementary EU Funding Sources

The 2006 call for proposals was the last for the eTEN Programme. As eTEN projects will gradually finish, we would like to draw your attention to some complementary EU funding sources.

From 2007 onwards, support to electronic services in areas of public interest will be provided by the ICT Policy Support Programme (ICT PSP), a component of the Competitiveness and Innovation Framework Programme (CIP), which will run until 2013.

Please check for potential synergies of your project with the measures funded under Cohesion policy by getting in touch with the managing authorities in charge of the Structural Funds programmes in your region. More

The "Practical Guide to EU funding opportunities for Research and Innovation" helps all stakeholders to find their way into the different existing EU funding in support for research, technological development and innovation.

eTEN Project Videos

These short videos contribute to the goals of our communication activities and complement the eTEN Project Booklet below.

eTEN Project Booklet

Communication of the eTEN projects has always been considered a very important promotional tool which helped increase the reach and impact of the projects, disseminate experiences and good practices, locate potential partners and attract investors. In 2004 the eTEN project of the month contest was launched as part of the programme's effort to increase the visibility and impact of the projects. The criteria for this election were the consortium’s capabilities to communicate the project’s goals and achievements as well as the usability of the project’s website. In order to mark the end of the eTEN funding cycle at the end of 2006, we have compiled a booklet bringing together all projects of the month from the last three years (2004-2006). This booklet contributes to the goals of our communication activities and complements the short story videos, which are also available on our website.
