An Information Day on the 4th Call for Proposals of the
ICT Policy Support Programme
(Competitiveness and Innovation
Programme - CIP) will be held on 14 January 2010
in Brussels (Charlemagne building - rue de la Loi 170).
Opening of ICT Call 6. Under the heading 'ICT for the Mobility of the Future', we are looking for proposals on 'Field Operational Tests for Integrated Safety Systems and Co-operative Systems' and for proposals on 'ICT-based systems and services for Smart Urban Mobility and new Mobility Concepts'. We are also calling for submissions on 'Coordination and Support Actions' as well as on 'International cooperation'. For details, please go to ICT for the Mobility of the Future's site or to section 4.6 of Work Programme 2009/2010. The Work Programme is downloadable from the Call 6 page under the heading 'Information Package'.
An EU-US Joint
Declaration on Research in Cooperative Systems has been signed
in Washington, D.C. It aims to identify joint areas of cooperative
systems research, and to support the development of global open
standards for such cooperative systems.

eCall Summit : Time for deployment
The 12th eSafety Forum Plenary meeting, Brussels, 29/10/2009.
Cargo Study ("Impact assessment on the introduction of
intelligent cargo systems in transport logistics industry") analyses
the potential of ICT to increase the efficiency, security and safety
of freight transport. The study considers different scenarios for the
paradigm shift from centralized to decentralized ICT services and
identifies a migration path towards the most promising scenario.
The study was conducted by PTV, Germany, and ECORYS, The Netherlands.

Methodologies for assessing the impact of ITS applications on CO2
Closing of the
FP7 ICT Call 4. 80 proposals were submitted for Objective 6.1 'ICT
for Safety and Energy Efficiency in Mobility'. The complete
evaluation process will be finished by the end of June 2009.
eCall transmission standards approved
The core standards for the transmission of eCall's minimum set of data (MSD) have now been approved by 3GPP and ETSI. The MSD will be transmitted over the voice channel of mobile telephone networks via in-band modem technology.

Kick-off meeting of the European eCall Implementation Platform,
With more than 80 participants, the Implementation Platform's activities started very successfully. Representatives of 20 European countries were present, Russia and Norway among them. ERTICO - ITS Europe will chair the platform for two years, with Finland in the seat of the vice-chair. The next meeting will be held in Brussels, on 24 March 2009.
