Study on the specific policy needs for ICT standardisation - Project Team, under the supervision of Professor Dr. Patrick Van Eecke, of the international law firm DLA Piper in Belgium for the Directorate General Enterprise and Industry
Description (short summary):
The European Commission, responding to the expectations of industrial and societal players, has launched a study to prepare recommendations that will ensure that the EU's standardisation policy for the ICT sector meets the challenges of today's fast moving markets.
The objective of this study, which has been being conducted against the background of major changes in the ICT sector, is to identify how the EU ICT standardization policy could better support and complement various European policies, such as the Competitiveness policy set by the Lisbon agenda, the eHealth policy, eLearning, and eAccessibility. For this reason, the Study provides a thorough analysis of the current state-of-play of the European ICT standardisation policy and brings forward recommendations for its future development.
