Expired programmes

The EU Council adopted the first funding programmes concerning the area of freedom, security and justice in December 1996. Having a lifetime of normally 4 years, these programmes meanwhile expired and have been replaced by new funding programmes with broader objectives.

This page gives a general presentation in three parts:

The expired programmes are:

  • Falcone: Helping people and organisations fight against organised crime at EU level.
  • Hippokrates: EU funding for organisations involved in crime prevention.
  • OISIN II: Making EU police and customs officials more familiar with each others' systems and practices.
  • Grotius II-Criminal: Helping professionals from the EU Member States to cooperate in criminal matters
  • Grotius Civil: To facilitate judicial cooperation between Member States by fostering mutual knowledge of legal and judicial systems.
  • Robert Schuman: Designed to remedy the widespread lack of information and training in Community law of judges, prosecutors and lawyers.
  • Odysseus: To help strengthen EU-wide cooperation in the field of asylum and immigration
  • STOP II: To help prevent and combat trade in human beings and all forms of sexual exploitation
  • Victims of terrorism: Pilot project: To support projects intended to help the victims and/or their relatives of terrorist acts and raise awareness of the public against terrorist threat.
