Press Conference by Commissioner Markos Kyprianou to launch 'Help' anti-smoking advertising campaign
Brussels, 26 May 2005

EU Health Commissioner Markos Kyprianou presented the new television advertisements of the European Commission's anti-smoking campaign 'HELP - For a life without tobacco'. A few days ahead of World No Tobacco Day (31 May), journalists have been able to view for the first time the three adverts which have been developed for the next phase of the European Commission's anti-smoking campaign, 'HELP'. Commissioner Kyprianou explained the aim of the adverts and placed them in the context of the European Commission's broader tobacco control activities. The Commissioner announced also the adoption by the European Commission of the picture warnings which Member States can place on cigarette packs, and launched the web site of the HELP campaign.
