The Scientific Committee on Emerging and newly Identified Health Risks (SCENIHR) has received a request for a scientific opinion on safety of bisphenol A in medical devices.
Scope of the call for information:
Interested parties are invited to submit any relevant information that could assist the scientific committee with the assessment of the safety of bisphenol A in medical devices. In particular, the Scientific Committee is interested in receiving any scientific information related to the migration of bisphenol A from materials used in medical devices, in exposure scenarios deriving from the use of various medical devices, in exposure to bisphenol A through non oral routes, and in any other scientific data considered relevant to assess the safety of bisphenol A in medical devices. The Scientific Committee is also interested in scientific information about possible alternatives to bisphenol A in medical devices.
Submission of information:
All information should be submitted in electronic form to Sanco-SCENIHR-Secretariat AT ec.europa.eu specifying “BPA in medical devices - Call for Information” in the subject line of the e-mail.
