The Commission launched the Health Security Initiative to strengthen the response to these threats by putting in place rapid and efficient risk assessment mechanisms.
With this perspective, the existing EU bodies and international agencies, such as the European Centre for Diseases Prevention and Control (ECDC), the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) and the World Health Organisation (WHO) will mobilise, in case of need, their expertise to provide robust scientific advice to support the decision making process for risk management.
