Children and young people

The health of children and young people is a key priority for the Commission.

In addition to encouraging people to adopt healthy lifestyles, the Commission is committed to empower young people to become active partners in actions to improve their health. In July 2009, the European Commission launched the Youth Health Initiative

What are the goals?

  • involve young people more closely in EU health policies
  • make them partners in the decision-making process
  • get a wider range of sectors involved in prevention programs targeting young people
  • help EU countries improve young people's health.
