European Commission adopted,
on 3 March 2004, a
established three new
Scientific Committees in the
fields of consumer safety,
public health and the
. The Scientific Committee on Consumer Products (SCCP)
. The Scientific Committee on Health and Environmental Risks (SCHER)
. The Scientific Committee on Emerging and Newly Identified Health risks (SCENIHR)
The new committees will replace the Scientific Committee on Cosmetic Products and Non-food products intended for Consumers, the Scientific Committee on Toxicity, Ecotoxicity and the Environment and the Scientific Committee on Medicinal Products and Medical Devices. However the members of these Committees will remain in office until the nomination of the members of the new Committees.
The role of the Committees is to give the Commission high quality and independent scientific advice on matters relating to consumer safety or risks to public health or to the environment.
A call for expressions of interest for scientists interested in becoming members of one of these committees was published on 11 March 2004 in Official Journal S50.
