SCENIHR, SCHER ir SCCS nuomonės dėl sintetinės biologijos

Sintetinės biologijos srityje rinkai jau sukurta svarbių produktų, pavyzdžiui, naudojant mieles sintetinamas artemisininas, iš cukrų gaminamas biologiškai skaidus plastikas. Sintetinė biologija gali būti labai svarbi daugelyje sričių – medicinos, medžiagų, chemijos, maisto, mitybos, energetikos, tvarumo, atliekų tvarkymo, saugos. Tačiau, kaip daugelio naujų ir besiformuojančių technologijų atveju, yra prieštaringų aspektų, dėl kurių kyla įnirtingų ginčų dėl sintetinės biologijos naudos visuomenei potencialo ir rizikos.
