World Exposition 2010 Shanghai

 The EXPO takes place between 1st May and 31st October in Shanghai, on the theme "Better city, better life".
The EU has set up a pavilion together with Belgium, which will take over the EU's rotating presidency as of the second half of this year.
Between 70 and 100 million visitors are expected in total, with some 5 million expected to visit the EU pavilion. The EU exhibition is based around the theme of "Intelligent Europe" which includes the sub-themes "Open Europe", "Green Europe" and "Living Europe".

Why is the EU participating?
The EU will use the opportunity of the Expo to develop its constructive relationship with many parts of Chinese society, including high-level policymakers, national and local authorities, academics and business representatives.

Why is DG Sanco participating?
DG SANCO is taking part in some thematic events to highlight the awareness of many key topics such as healthy cities, food safety, research into a healthy life, etc.
