Policy

In the framework of the EU health strategy, the Commission has set up a number of groups and structures to help citizens, interest groups and organisations take an active part in EU activities in the field of health.

Strategy

The EU Health Strategy for 2008-13 identifies areas where EU countries cannot act effectively alone and where cooperation at EU level adds value.

Participation of the civil society in, and their influence on, decision making is crucial to achieve the objectives of the strategy.

Implementation

Using structures such as the Health Forum, the Commission encourages all stakeholder groups, regional and local organisations to get involved in the development and implementation of actions to protect and improve the health of European citizens.
