Open Forum

A key element of the EU Health Forum is the Open Forum as an annual conference and exhibition event. The objective of the Open Forum is to provide a platform for networking and exchange of ideas and views of different stakeholders of the European health community (health professionals' organisations, public health NGOs, patient groups, and service providers and funders).

On the basis of the EU Health Strategy, the first EU Open Health Forum conference was held in May 2004 in Brussels.

The second Open Forum took place on 7 and 8 November 2005 in Brussels with the overall theme "Health Challenges and Future Strategy" and attracted around 380 participants from a wide range of organisations.

The third Open Health Forum conference took place on 10 and 11 December 2008 in Brussels and focused thematically on the development and implementation of the EU health strategy. With over 450 participants, the conference was accompanied by a small exhibition of information stands  from member organisations of the Health Policy forum and the European Commission.

The fourth Open Health Forum conference took place on 29 and 30 June 2010 in Brussels with the overall theme "Together for Health – a Strategy for the EU 2020" with the main focus on the integration of health aspects in other policies within the overall EU 2020 strategy.  This year, the conference as well as the accompanying exhibition attracted over 550 participants coming from a huge range of stakeholder representations at EU, national and regional level.
