Public Health Europe - European Commission - EU
A survey published by the European Commission today, on the eve of World No Tobacco Day, shows no decrease in the overall smoking rate in the EU (26%) since 2014. Amongst people aged 15 to 24 the rate has increased from 25% in 2014 to 29% in 2017.
The Commission seeks to gather views on the extent to which the 2002 and 2004 Directives have met their original objectives and whether they remain fit for purpose. The consultation of citizens and stakeholders will run until the end of August 2017. Interested parties are invited to participate online.
The RE-HEALTH project on refugees' and migrants' health co-funded by the European Commission's Third Health Programme (2014-2020) presented its results at a closing conference of its pilot phase in Brussels on 15 May.
The results of the public consultation and views expressed by stakeholders in other forums will be summarised in the Synopsis Report which will form part of the Impact Assessment on strengthening EU cooperation on HTA beyond 2020.
