“EUNetHTA 3” (2016-2019) aims to pave the way for sustainable cooperation on Health Technology Assessment (HTA) in Europe. The specific objective of this Joint Action, which will include 75 partners from 27 EU countries, is to strengthen cooperation between HTA bodies in the EU and increase and improve joint work.
The overall total amount of EU funding available in 2016 covering grants and tenders is nearly €58 million. Calls for proposals for projects will be launched in March 2016.

World No Tobacco Day 2015: Eurobarometer reveals that tobacco use is down by 2 percentage points in the EU since 2012, but 26% of Europeans are still smokers
In the age category 15 to 24 years the reduction is 4 percentage points (25% vs 29%). Average age of starting smoking remains unchanged at 17.6 years. 59% of smokers have tried to quit – 19% in the past 12 months. 12% of Europeans have tried e-cigarettes, compared to 7% in 2012.

Parliament approves fee regulation for Pharmacovigilance activities of the European Medicines Agency
The European Parliament has voted in favour of an EU Regulation on fees payable to the European Medicines Agency for the conduct of pharmacovigilance activities for medicinal products for human use, which lays down the level and structure of these fees.
The legal framework for post-authorisation studies for medical products in the EU was set by legislation in 2010 and 2012; this legislation has now been supplemented by the Commission's Delegated Regulation specifying situations in which these studies are required.
The independent Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety of the European Commission have published their Opinion on the safety of aluminium in cosmetic products.
The agreement was drawn up by the Commission to help EU countries have equitable access and purchasing power for procuring pandemic vaccines and medications. The mechanism should boost EU preparedness for any serious cross-border health threats.

Each year to keep the organ donation debate alive, the day is organised by a different member state, this year Belgium is the host. To coincide with this the Commision organised journalist workshops on organ donation. All the presentations are now available online.
