Public consultation on the preliminary opinion on ‘Disruptive Innovation. Considerations for health and health care in Europe’
The European Commission and the Expert Panel on Effective Ways of Investing in Health (EXPH) have launched a public consultation on the preliminary opinion on the ‘Disruptive Innovation. Considerations for health and health care in Europe’.
Disruptive Innovation (DI) is a type of innovation that creates new networks and players and tend to displace existing structures and actors, and is as such a real paradigm shift. It can be an important mechanism for improvement of health while reducing costs and complexity in favour of the improved access and empowerment of the citizen/patient. The opinion develops a taxonomy, identifies drivers and barriers and assesses its relevance in the EU by listing some case studies.
Submissions received during the public consultation were carefully examined by the EXPH and, when relevant, taken into account in the final opinion.
The 155 contributions received and the responses provided by the EXPH are available here.
