Public consultation on the preliminary opinion on ‘Access to health services in the European Union’
The European Commission and the Expert Panel on Effective Ways of Investing in Health (EXPH) have launched a public consultation on the preliminary opinion on the ‘Access to health services in the European Union’.
The preliminary opinion addresses barriers to accessing health care and explores policy measures that can overcome them. Ways to improve equity could include matching health needs and financial resources, affordable and accessible health services, the availability of a sufficient number of health workers with the right skills, well-equipped facilities within easy reach, the availability of quality medicines and medical devices and services that are relevant and cost-effective. The preliminary opinion pays special attention to access to health services for underserved groups as Roma, undocumented migrants and people with mental health problems.
The Expert Panel is now seeking feedback from the scientific community and stakeholders on its opinion on Access to health services in the European Union.
All interested parties are invited to submit by 6 November 2015 COB in writing, specific comments, suggestions, explanations or contributions on the scientific basis of the opinion, as well as any other scientific information regarding the questions addressed. These will enable the Expert Panel to formulate its final views on the matter.
The electronic template provided with the documents should be used for the submission of comments, with reference made to the chapter/section and paragraph numbers. Please note that comments submitted by email or post cannot be taken into account.
A submission will not be considered if it is:
- submitted after the deadline set out in the call;
- presented in any form other than what is provided for in the instructions and template;
- not related to the contents of the document;
- contains complaints against institutions, personal accusations, irrelevant or offensive statements or material;
- is related to policy management or other aspects, which are outside the scope of the EXPH’s remit.
The Expert Panel will assess all comments, which are submitted in line with the criteria above, and consider them.
