The jury met on 19 November 2013 and selected the Maltese national finalist. The name of the national finalist will be published after all the finalists are selected.

Angelo Chetcuti, chair

Angelo joined the European Commission Representation after having spent two years in Luxembourg where he worked with the Directorate General for Translation (DGT).
As from February 2010, Angelo became the Representation's Press and Political Officer. Besides the office's relations with the press, he is responsible for political reporting to the central services of the Commission in Brussels.
Angelo obtained a doctorate in law from the University of Malta and a Master in Computer and Communications Law from Queen Mary, University of London. Sport is his biggest passion.

Dr Natasha Azzopardi Muscat, health expert

Dr Natasha Azzopardi Muscat qualified as a medical doctor from the University of Malta in 1995. She furthered her studies obtaining an MSc in Public Health from the University of Malta and an MSc with distinction in Health Services Management from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. She obtained her Membership of the Faculty of Public Health Medicine in 2003 and was subsequently elected to the Fellowship of the Faculty.
Dr Azzopardi Muscat joined the University of Malta in 1999. Over the past ten years she has been involved in teaching and research in health services management and public health. Her special interest is European Health Policy.
In July 2007, she was appointed Director General (Strategy and Sustainability) within the Ministry of Health. In 2011 she was appointed Chief Medical Officer for Malta, a position she currently occupies.

Prof. Janet Mifsud  B.Pharm (Hons) PhD (QUB), health expert 

Prof Janet Mifsud is an Associate Professor in the Department of Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics, University of Malta. Her present research is on epilepsy and other chronic neurological disorders. She was Commissioner, National Commission for the Promotion of Equality 2004-2010; a member of the Public Service Commission, 2000-2009. She is presently a member on board of the Malta Council of Science and Technology and national co-ordinator for COST – European Cooperation in Science and Technology. She has been re-elected Vice President for the International Bureau for Epilepsy for 2013-2017.

Moira Mizzi, health expert

Moira Mizzi is a medical doctor in general practice and Gestalt psychotherapist. For a number of years she has been a regular contributor with the Times of Malta and European Hospital Journal writing both about the medical and social aspects of disease and the latest trends in hospital practices interviewing local experts in the field and patients. She has been selected twice (2010, 2011) as the national contestant for the European Health Journalist Award and has been invited several times by the European Commission to attend medical conferences and to give lectures from the journalistic perspective.

Malcolm J. Naudi, journalist

Malcolm J. Naudi has chaired the Institute of Maltese Journalists (IĠM) since 2000, having been a founder member of the IĠM in 1989. He is a Trustee of the Tumas Fenech Foundation for Education in Journalism (FTFEĠ) and occupies PR positions at Board level on a voluntary basis with the English-Speaking Union of Malta and the Malta Guide Dogs Foundation.
He is the author of three books, the first two editions of Superbrands Malta (2009 and 2013) and Random Recollections and Memories about Anthony Miceli-Farrugia (1914-2002), a former Chairman and Managing Director of Farsons.
After an early career in journalism and as a communications trainer, including 16 years as Deputy Editor of The Sunday Times, he set up Malcolm J. Naudi Communications, which specialises in public affairs, PR consultancy, TV production and new media, in 2008. In 2010 he entered a partnership, FranklinCovey (Malta) Ltd, with his brother, Jimmy, who is based in the UK, and secured the local franchise of FranklinCovey, a leading global consulting and training organisation based in the United States.
