National Jury Italy

The jury met on 21 November 2013 and selected the Italian national finalist. The name of the national finalist will be published after all the finalists are selected.


Ewelina Jelenkowska-Luca, chair

Ewelina Jelenkowska-Lucà is trained advocate, graduate of Law Faculty in Poland and later in Italy. She holds a Master’s of Arts degree of the College of Europe in European Law. She has been working for the European institutions since 2003: first in the Court of Justice, then in the European Commission, where she initially worked in the Directorate-General for Competition, then in EC Representation in Poland as Deputy Head of REP. Today she is Head of Press and Media Sector in the EC Representation in Italy.


Elisa Giannetto

Alessandro Finazzi –Agrò, health expert

Alessandro Finazzi –Agrò is a full Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology since 1975 at the Universities of Cagliari, L’Aquila, Rome La Sapienza and finally Rome Tor Vergata where he served as Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and as Rector . He also worked as visiting scientist at the Bell Laboratories in Murray Hill (N.J.USA) and at Royal Marsden Hospital (Sutton,UK). He is author of more than 300 papers mainly on the physicochemical properties of redox metalloproteins, on the patophysiological role of reactive oxygen species and on the biochemistry of endocannabinoids.


Francesca Moccia, public health expert

Francesca Moccia got a Degree in Law. Thesis on Human Rights. She got two M.A.s: one on “Public Relations” and the other one on “Citizenship Policies”. She also attended a course on “Security Manager”. Currently she co-ordinates the Tribunal for Patients’ Rights at national level. This is an initiative of Cittadinanzattiva which was born in 1978 in order to protect citizens’ rights in healthcare field. She attended to many information initiatives and campaigns dealing with healthcare field such as “Safe Hospital”, “Civic Audit”, “Informed Consent”, “Surgery Quality Charter”. She belongs to a team work related to patients’ security for the Ministry of Health.
