National Jury Greece

The jury will meet on 12 November 2013 and will select the Greek national finalist. The name of the national finalist will be published after all the finalists are selected. 

Carlos Martin Ruiz de Gordejuela, chair

Carlos Martín Ruiz de Gordejuela was born in Bilbao (Spain) and has a degree in Economics from Deusto University and a degree in Law from UNED. He also holds two masters in European Economy from Deusto University and from the Université Libre de Bruxelles. He has worked at a private Law firm, at the Representation Office of the Basque Country in Brussels and at the Hellenic Capital Market Commission. From September 1994 he is a civil servant at the European Commission, where he has held different responsibilities in industry and in competition affairs. Since 2007 he is the Head of the Press and Media Service at the Representation of the European Commission in Greece.


Penny Boulantza, journalist

Penny Bouloutza was born in Patras in 1972 and she holds a degree from the School of Film and Television Directing Department Stavrakos. She speaks English and French. Since October 1999 she has been working as an editor in the newspaper "Kathimerini" and since April 2000 as an author of articles of medical topics, accredited to the Ministry of Health and Social Solidarity. Penny Bouloutza also worked in the bilingual magazine ARTI-Art Today, and from January 1989 until April 1995 had been working as an Assistant Director-in movies, short films and TV series.


Melina Tseliou (Μελίνα Τσέλιου), journalist

Melina Tseliou (Μελίνα Τσέλιου) was born in Kozani, Macedonia in Northern Greece. She has worked in various countries in EU in communication related posts. Since 2003 Melina is working for SKAI Group in Greece.She is currently reporting on health stories for SKAI Television and Radio. She already holds a degree in Politics with European Studies (UK) and is currently in the 4th year of her studies in Medical School in Athens training to be a medical doctor.She also presents a daily tv and radio segment on health.


Dr. Paraskevi Mentzelopoulos, health expert

Paraskevi (Voula) Mentzelopoulou was born in 1974 in Aigio, Greece; she holds a degree in medicine from Aristoteleio University of Thessaloniki and she is currently working at the Metropolitan Hospital and "REA" maternity home. She has also worked as a lecturer at Harvard Medical School and as a clinical endocrinologist at the Junior faculty of Harvard University. She was a member of the investigation group at Washington University of Saint Louis Barnes Jewish Hospital St. Louis, and a member of the Why WAIT program at the Joslin diabetes centre. Paraskevi Mentzelopoulou has also been a member of the Massachusetts Medical Association since 2007 and the Medical Association of Athens since 2002.
