Mobility in Europe

The aim of EU health policy is to improve the healthcare delivered to the EU citizen, as well as greater integration of, and co-operation between, health systems, through enabling:

• patients to get healthcare across the EU

• healthcare professionals to work in different EU countries

• new medical technologies to be shared among different EU countries.

The EU is implementing a concerted strategy to facilitate this, by promoting better quality of care, and increasing transparency (notably on healthcare provision).

It is also encouraging the relevant national bodies to make patients and professionals more aware of these opportunities and of their rights.
