8. Main Content
This Order implements, firstly, the technical requirements and specifications applicable to the gaming and auxiliary machines governed by Decree 120/2016 of 27 July 2016 approving the General Regulation on Gaming in the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country for approval and registration and for adapting the new subtypes and updating them to meet the new needs of the market, and, secondly, the technical conditions and requirements applicable to gaming machine interconnection systems so that the gaming is reliable, safe and transparent for users, requiring all integrated systems and machines to be monitored by the public administrations responsible for gaming.

9. Brief Statement of Grounds
The new Regulation on gaming machines and auxiliary machines (Decree 120/2016 of 27 July 2016 approving Section II, Chapter I of the General Regulation on Gaming in the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country) classifies gaming machine types as ‘AR’, ‘B’ and ‘C’. For type ‘B’ machines, it introduces new subtypes ‘BH’, ‘BHZ’, ‘BH+’, ‘BS’, ‘BS+’ and ‘BG’. Furthermore, machine types ‘B’ and ‘C’ and their subtypes may offer different formats such as multi-station machines (‘BM’ or ‘CM’) or shared machines (‘BC’ or ‘CC’), while the Regulation also includes the interconnection of gaming machines for awarding an additional prize, which may be in cash or in kind, for the accumulated sum of the jackpots from all interconnected machines.

This Order updates the technical requirements and specifications of gaming machines in line with the evolution of gaming in the European Union, technological advancements and the evolution of consumer tastes, allowing gaming companies to adapt their offer to market trends without any detriment to the guarantees of integrity and transparency in gaming and without promoting the addictive aspects of gaming.
