Energy Conservation Program for Consumer Products: Energy Conservation Standards for Residential Furnaces (80 pages, in English)
Reference: G/TBT/N/USA/974

Date of arrival: 2015 March 17     -     Final date for comments: 2017 January 06

Description

The Energy Policy and Conservation Act of 1975 (EPCA), as amended, prescribes energy conservation standards for various consumer products and certain commercial and industrial equipment, including residential furnaces. EPCA also requires the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to periodically determine whether more-stringent, amended standards would be technologically feasible and economically justified, and would save a significant amount of energy. In this document, DOE proposes amended energy conservation standards for residential non- weatherized gas furnaces and mobile home furnaces, in partial fulfillment of a court-ordered remand of DOE's 2011 rulemaking for these products. The proposed rule also announces a public meeting to receive comment on these proposed standards and associated analyses and results.
