    "Lo specialista in Gastroenterologia possiede conoscenze teoriche, scientifiche e professionali nel campo della patofisiologia, della clinica e della terapia delle malattie e dei tumori del tratto gastroenterico, del fegato, delle vie biliari e del pancreas. Sono specifici ambiti di competenza: la clinica delle malattie non neoplastiche e neoplastiche del tratto gastroenterico, del fegato, delle vie biliari e del pancreas, l’esecuzione di procedure di endoscopia del tratto digerente, sia diagnostiche che terapeutiche, la fisiopatologia della digestione, della nutrizione e del metabolismo epatico; l’esecuzione di altre procedure di diagnostica strumentale di competenza del gastroenterologo (ecografia addominale, ecoendoscopia, ecc.); la terapia (farmacologica, immunologica, strumentale e nutrizionale) delle malattie non neoplastiche e neoplastiche del tratto gastroenterico, del fegato, delle vie biliari e del pancreas e la riabilitazione dei pazienti che ne sono affetti."
