Sono specifici ambiti di competenza la metodologia clinica, la terapia farmacologica specifica e di supporto in oncologia, la comunicazione medico/paziente e la medicina palliativa. Lo specialista in Oncologia Medica è in possesso, inoltre, della esperienza diretta nelle metodologie diagnostiche di laboratorio più rilevanti e nella sperimentazione clinica."
