BENEFICIARIES OF GRANTS
This information on beneficiaries of grants, which is not exhaustive, is set out below in alphabetical order by subject area. This is a first step to increase the transparency with which the European Union handles the funds entrusted to it by the European citizens. The Directorate General Communication of the European Commission in collaboration with the other Directorates General and Services is already in the process of improving the quality of the information provided in order to present it in a more consistent, comparable and user friendly manner.
In order to maintain a high level of transparency, the European Commission compiles an annual report on the allocation of grants directly financed by the administrative part of the EU budget (heading 5) and their beneficiaries. This report is intended for use by Members of the European Parliament and the Council of Ministers.
The last available report covers the period 2004-2006  (340KB). This report, although complete and extensive in its coverage, is an official document destined for internal use. Thus, inexperienced users may find its content somewhat detailed and overly-technical.
