The Commission organises training courses on the use of the Trade Control and Expert System (TRACES) for national authority staff of EU and other participating countries.
TRACES is a system for tracking live animals and rejected food imports of animal origin. It is part of the EU import controls. EU countries must use it to trace traded and imported live animals, semen, embryos and products of animal origin.
As a web network, TRACES links the veterinary authorities of EU and participating non-EU countries, border inspection posts and businesses. It gives access to EU rules, lists of non-EU country establishments authorised to export to the EU and a registration system for rejected consignments.
