The Commission training courses aim to enable the food control officials of developing country to check compliance with EU requirements. Industry representatives may attend at their own expense.

Workshops take place in different regions of the world. They are primarily for countries in the region with an interest in EU trade-related issues.

Inadequate controls may limit developing countries' capacity to comply with EU standards on food imports.
