Experimental release into the environment
Anyone intending to introduce GMOs into the environment for experimental purposes must first get authorisation from the relevant authority in the country where the release is planned.
The authority will decide by assessing the environmental and health risks according to the rules in Part B of Directive 2001/18 - deliberate release of GMOs into the environment.
