The EU is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Treaty of Rome, which was the first step in the creation of what is today the European Union.

Food safety is a major EU policy area, and one in which there have been many achievements over the years.

To celebrate 50 Years of Food Safety in the EU, the European Commission has published an illustrated book outlining the changes, challenges and successes in this field across the decades.
