EU reference laboratory for bee health

On 2 February 2011 the Commission has designated the EU reference laboratory in the field of bee health, for a period of five years from 1 April 2011. It is the laboratory of the Agence Nationale de Sécurité Sanitaire de l’alimentation, de l’environnement et du travail (ANSES) in Sophia-Antipolis, France. Its specific responsibilities and tasks were also laid down. See the relevant Commission regulation with more details here

Later the definition of certain tasks of the EU reference laboratory for bee health were amended as regards serological tests as well the mention of colony collapse disorder (CCD) was modified to ensure consistency with the terminology used in the surveillance studies on bee mortality established in Commission Implementing Decision 2012/362/EU. In the interest of clarity and simplification of EU legislation, Regulation (EU) No 87/2011 was repealed by Regulation (EU) No 415/2013.
