Community-funded research
The Protocol on the
Protection and Welfare of Animals, annexed to
the EC Treaty by the Treaty of Amsterdam,
recognises that animals are sentient beings and
obliges the European Institutions to pay full
regard to the welfare requirements of animals
when formulating and implementing Community
policies, including in the research area. Links
are given below to some recently completed or
ongoing Community-funded research projects
having an important animal welfare component.
Further details on agriculture related projects
are available on the
AGRINET
website.
