Porcine Semen

Basic directive

The general animal health requirements governing intra-Union trade in and imports into the European Union of semen of domestic animals of the porcine species are laid down in Council Directive 90/429/EEC of 26 June 1990.

This Directive harmonises:

Only distribution and placement of serum in the country of destination are not covered by the Directive, being a matter for the Member States.

Implementation arrangements for imports of porcine semen are laid down by Commission decisions adopted by the Standing Committee on the Food Chain and Animal Health (SCFCAH):
