Equine semen, ova and embryos
Basic directive

The general animal health requirements governing intra-Union trade in and imports into the European Union of semen, ova and embryos of the equine species (horses, asses, etc.) are laid down in Council Directive 92/65/EEC of 13 July 1992.

This Directive harmonises:

Only distribution and placement of semen, ova and embryos in the country of destination have not been harmonised.


Implementation arrangements for trade in and imports of equine semen, ova and embryos are laid down by Commission decisions adopted by the Standing Committee on the Food Chain and Animal Health ( SCFCAH):
