Equidae have to be accompanied by an identification document (passport) during their movements (on foot and during transport). Since 1 July 2000 this provision is compulsory for all equidae within the European Union.

Registered equidae, which are registered in a studbook as defined in Council Directive 90/427/EEC (zootechnical legislation). Identification document according to Commission Decision 93/623/EEC

Equidae for breeding and production, as defined in Council Directive 90/426/EEC (animal health legislation). Identification document according to Commission Decision 2000/68/EEC
