In addition to the importation and intracommunity trade in fresh meat, the EU has also set down animal health rules on the importation and trade of meat-based products. The rules laid down have the basic aim of protecting animal health within the Community. However there is a large number of different types of products, and hence it has been necessary to lay down rules for each type of meat-based product. These are classified in the menu as shown.
