Strategic debate on the content and progress of the National Strategic Plans
The Article 16 of the EFF Regulation (EC 1198/2006) foresees that " By 31 December 2011, the Commission shall organise a debate with Member States on the content and the progress of the implementation of the national strategic plans, on the basis of written information submitted by Member States, with a view to encourage the exchange of best practice among Member States."
The Commission organised, a Meeting of the Directors General of Fisheries (Brussels, 8-9/12/2011), in which the state of play of the current EFF was discussed as well as the strategic framework. The debate was illustrated by the presentation of 8 Good Practices by representatives from the Member States. The Commission presented also its proposals for a new "Common Strategic Framework" and the future European Maritime and Fisheries Fund for the post-2013 period.
In order to prepare for this debate, the Commission published two reports:
- A synthesis of the interim evaluations of the EFF [2 MB] undertaken in 2011 by the Member States. An executive summary of this report [360 KB] is also available.
- A synthesis of the assessment made by the Member States of their National Strategic Plan [169 KB] . This synthesis also contains a summary description of over 40 Good Practices related to the current EFF.
