Fischereiaufwand
Beschränkung des Fischereiaufwands bedeutet, dass die Größe der Fischereiflotte und die auf See verbrachte Zeit begrenzt werden.
Der Fischereiaufwand wird durch Multiplizieren der Fangkapazität mit dem Zeitraum, in dem aktiv gefischt wird, berechnet. Zur Ermittlung der Fangkapazität wendet die EU zwei unterschiedliche Methoden an, wobei sich die eine auf die Größe des Fahrzeugs in Bruttoregistertonnen und die andere auf die Maschinenleistung in Kilowatt stützt. Die Aufwandsbeschränkungen werden dann jeweils in BRT/Tag oder kW/Tag angegeben.
Derartige Beschränkungen sind insbesondere zur Vermeidung von Überfischung wichtig und werden daher in alle Mehrjahrespläne aufgenommen, die eine Erholung überfischter Bestände zum Ziel haben.
