The European Commission has welcomed the great strides made by Latvia in addressing the shortcomings of its national fisheries control system.
The European Fisheries Control Agency (EFCA) has adopted its Multiannual Work Programme for 2015-2019 and the Annual Work Programme at the meeting of the Administrative Board held on 17 of October 2014.
The European Commission welcomes the broad support the “Omnibus regulation” received today in Council.

Regime de controlo das pescas da UE

Para garantir o cumprimento das regras da Política Comum das Pescas, esta também prevê um regime de controlo dotado dos instrumentos necessários para o efeito.

O cumprimento das regras da Política Comum das Pescas é assegurado através de um regime de controlo concebido para:

  • garantir que só são capturadas as quantidades autorizadas de peixe,
  • recolher os dados necessários para gerir as possibilidades de pesca,
  • clarificar os papéis dos países da UE e da Comissão,
  • garantir que as regras e as sanções se aplicam a todos os pescadores da mesma forma em toda a UE,
  • garantir o rastreio dos produtos da pesca até à origem ao longo de toda a cadeia de abastecimento, da rede até à mesa.

O regime é estabelecido no chamado Regulamento de Controlo , que entrou em vigor em 1 de Janeiro de 2010 e modernizou profundamente o controlo das pescas na UE e, em particular, o harmonizou com as rigorosas medidas de luta contra a pesca ilegal adoptadas pela UE em 2008.
