For the sixth year, the European Fisheries Control Agency (EFCA) coordinates the Joint Deployment Plan (JDP) for the Blue Fin Tuna fishery in the Mediterranean Sea and the Eastern Atlantic waters for 2013.
The European Fisheries Control Agency has presented the new tools to develop a culture of compliance in a reformed Common Fisheries Policy at the European Parliament today. Indeed, in the context of the new policy being designed, the EFCA, within its mandate, is ready to contribute to the success of the new CFP and the key features of regionalisation and discard ban and develop the necessary tools.

Régime européen de contrôle de la pêche

La politique commune de la pêche comprend un régime de contrôle destiné à garantir le respect de ses règles dans la pratique.

Afin de veiller au respect des règles de la politique commune de la pêche, il existe un régime de contrôle destiné à:

  • faire en sorte que seules les quantités autorisées de poissons soient capturées;
  • recueillir les données nécessaires à la gestion des possibilités de pêche;
  • préciser le rôle des États membres de l'UE et de la Commission;
  • garantir une application uniforme des règles à tous les pêcheurs et une harmonisation des sanctions dans toute l'UE;
  • assurer la traçabilité et le contrôle des produits de la pêche, d'un bout à l'autre de la chaîne d'approvisionnement.

Ce régime est défini dans le règlement relatif au contrôle , qui est entré en vigueur le 1er janvier 2010 et qui a entièrement renouvelé l'approche européenne en la matière. Le règlement a notamment aligné le régime sur les mesures strictes adoptées par l'UE en 2008 en vue de lutter contre la pêche illégale.
