This seminar is being held to launch the publication of the OECD report " Settling in: OECD Indicators of Immigrant Integration 2012”. This publication presents the first international comparison across OECD countries of the outcomes for immigrants and their children in the area of economic and social integration.

  • How has the economic crisis affected progress in labour market integration for migrants and their children?
  • How well do children from immigrant families perform at school?
  • Why do tertiary-educated migrants have less success in the labour market than their native-born counterparts?
  • Which countries have the lowest/highest employment rates of migrant women and why?
  • To what extent do language proficiency, level of education, age and category of entry affect the socio-economic outcomes of migrants in OECD countries?
  • Are migrant households systematically over-represented among the poorest households, and what are their housing conditions?
  • How do the conditions of access to health care for immigrants vary across OECD countries?
  • Do naturalised migrants exercise their right to vote as much as native-born residents do?

One objective of this seminar is to discuss the results of the study prepared by the OECD with high-level representatives of Member States responsible for migrants' integration and reception issues and to discuss policy implications.
